Meet Terje Sorgjerd – The Aurora
by Randy on Apr.19, 2011, under Other Stuff
Terje is one of my all time favorite photographers. Not only are his stills amazing, his time lapse sequences are spectacular. If I have an opportunity in life, I intend to do stuff along this line. Make sure you click the full screen mode – it’s full HD.

Angels Baseball Press Stuff
by Randy on Aug.21, 2010, under Sports
A while back, I used to work with the Los Angeles Angels Baseball Team in a limited capacity. Basically, I covered all of their press stuff whenever players went out on public appearances, and I covered their minor league system and targeted specific players that were destined to make it to the major leagues, and I occasionally shot some on field stuff, team photos, baseball card images, etc. I also covered the major league players when they went down to the minor league on a rehab assignment, etc. I can only post some of this material here because the rest is owned by the Angels and ESPN and Major League Baseball, but I will post what I can when I can. Here is some press stuff for Mike Scioscia, Frankie Rodriquez, David Eckstein, and Vlad Guerrero. All four were out on the same day signing autographs, and all were at different locations. Scioscia was at Howard’s (duh) in Laguna Hills, Vlad was at Linder’s Furniture in Anaheim, David Eckstein was at Borders Books at The Block, and Frankie was at Power Toyota in Irvine. I was running around all day to get these shots. Enjoy!

Cantrell Wedding

The purpose of this post is to show that you can take beautiful images of seemingly ordinary things – especially on wedding day. Images like thse work really well as backdrops for overlays, etc. Sometimes the bride and groom don’t understand why they have pictures of their table…but after you set it up with all of the members of their bridal party in overlays on top of that image, it suddenly makes all the sense in the world. Of course I had to throw in a glamour photo fo our awesome bride and groom.

Leonardo Engagement Photos

Just posted some engagement photos for Melissa and Greg. The sun was totally cooperative today, and some of these images are just amazing. These were shot at San Clemente Beach. I even impress myself sometimes.
Adamik Engagement Photos
by Randy on Aug.09, 2010, under Engagement

Just posted some new engagement photos for Angie and Chris Adamik. Super couple – awesome to work with. Their wedding was beautiful and fun too. The engagement photos were taken on an overcast day that kind of muted the sky and ocean colors…but despite that, I think they came out very good. Let me know what you think.
Japan
by Randy on Aug.04, 2010, under Other Stuff
On a recent trip to Japan, my wife’s mother (who is a very good photographer in her own right) took some shots that just need to be seen.

This is my daughter enjoying her first trip on the Shinkansen (Bullet Train).
Very nice vineyard near Nagano.
A Japanese tradition is to photograph your meal. Whenever they experience a nice meal on vactaion, or on special occassions, they photograph their meal…and here it is.
I shot this as I was walking around Kyoto one day. I spotted a soft drink machine that Tommy Lee Jones had done the promo work for. It was a series of commercials where he was in a Japanese Bath house and had to beat up everyone. They were funny…in their own way. And I found it really odd that they advertised this tea or soft drink with Tommy Lee Jones. I bought a can of tea.
I shot this as well: the interior of Kyoto Station. If you ever get to Japan, you must see Kyoto. It has some of the most beautiful architecture in the world, and the city itself is a blend of culture/tradition with technology. Very cool.
And this is my insanely beautiful wife. She has some amazing architecture too. I love grayscale.
Caldwell Engagement Shoot
by Randy on Aug.04, 2010, under Engagement

Hi to all – since this is a first post, I thought it best to share a few images from a recent shoot that I am proud of. I encourage responses that are helpful – just keep it simple, and life is good. I’ll allow links to your websites as long as it isn’t spam – I moderate this myself so spam will be deleted and then blocked.
I personally like both these images. The silhouette is strong, but not totally blacked out – which I find that clients prefer. This couple – the Caldwells – are super nice, easy to work with, and a lot of fun. Their wedding was beautiful, and they loved their pictures.
The second image was not color corrected – I liked the color that came out of the camera more than the photoshop correction, and the manual correction too. I tried it both ways and decided to go with the raw image you see here. I hope you like them as much as I do.
